Thoughts on decomissioning the Aux Nextcloud?

Hey Auxolotls!

I’ve noticed that the nextcloud instance we have hasn’t really been seeing any use so I was wondering if it would be safe to decommission it.

At the moment, it’s only really being used as a calendar management service and the only event in it is the weekly SIGDOCS meeting

So, anyway, let me know if it’s okay to decommission it.
I’ll take a look at this poll in like a couple of days and make my decision.

  • Yeah, it can be decommissioned.
  • No, do not decommission it.

Having a shared calendar may still useful to me, maybe, but a whole nextcloud instance feels like a lot for just a caldav sync. Other than that I feel like I did not nor will use it for any other thing.

This is my opinion too - I wonder if something like radicale would be lighter and fulfill our needs?

Radicale would definitely be lighter, but I’d need to play around with it a little bit first.

Okay, taking the poll and discussion into account, I’m going to decommission the nextcloud today at some point.

I’ll set up a radicale instance to replace it once I get a little bit of time on my end.
