I’ve already added one. Let me know if there’s more options to add.
Zulip has the disadvantage of indexing being clunky and unfamiliarity.
Sad that discord was not an option in the poll.
Option for just Discourse?
Most expressed their distaste for discord, so that wasn’t included
Users want IM (Instant Messaging)
I’ve updated it, let me know if I’m missing anything.
Please no more updates, it clears everyone’s votes and I reckon we have a good variety already.
I also fear that we have too many ways to communicate.
Git Repo, Zulip/Matrix and Discourse
Off-topic, does anyone know if editing the body of the text will reset votes? I want to add info that if you want discord, the only option is with matrix + discord, and so any votes that aren’t that should be counted as a vote AGAINST discord bridging.
Is zulip the best of both worlds? Like a forum and chat at the same time.
It’s a shame that matrix didn’t implement zulip-style threads. The project lead said multiple times that he wanted to.
Mattermost is open core IIRC.
For forums, discourse is awesome. You can only track what you want and there’s the nice “first post only watch” for categories like “announcements”.
Is mattermost indexable?
Is there a poll already? ._.
look at the first post
Oh, thanks. Already voted!
Discourse has wiki posts. It can be effective for community maintained docs.
MediaWiki or another dedicated wiki software is better for this purpose
I don’t want to trigger another clearing of the poll, but it’s going to be tricky to interpret. One platform has a majority without appearing in first place.
I think bridging to Discord would be appropriate only for providing user support and some casual community discussion. Other cases, like official discussions or coordinating development and such should be delegated to platforms that Aux administers like Discourse.
A ranked choice poll would be great!
