With a new project comes the opportunity to define it visually. In fact, we have a whole ecosystem to paint! Let’s use this thread for ideas, sketches, or fully rendered art that could be used for the project. Is the “computer” in aux.computer supposed to be part of the visual identity?
It can be! I don’t think it’s a super hard requirement.
Personally I like the aesthetic of the retro looking computer.
I was toying around with some colors, the other day, and I enjoyed the hi-vis retro-esque aesthetics of this palette, but i’m not attached to it so feel free to critique+improve.
I would love to see some experiments with these!
i hate to propose another SIG but maybe a design/marketing/socials SIG would help the project gain some traction? socials as in making twitter/masto posts, not doing moderation.
I think a marketing committee may be the answer here. Let me whip that up.
i was also thinking of doing an aux-jack inspired logo! i can whip something aux-inspired up in a bit.
I’ve made one in a similar vein, this time in a CRT (a little hard to tell with the retro color palette) Gonna keep workshopping.
I quite like having some shade of yellow as the primary color, it is different from most other distros.
i think that having a logo that is super legible at small sizes should be a priority for any designs we make. it should be legible first, recognizable second, and clever third.
ooh, when i see that i see a flame. maybe i’ll play around w/ that idea.

Oooh, the purple looks really nice, and it’s super legible. My vote goes to this one.
